Support for Addictions & Unhealthy Patterns

Feel like you’ve lost control? You’re not alone — and you’re not broken.

A Trauma-Informed Approach to Addiction Counseling

In our work together, we’ll uncover the emotional roots of your patterns — the original pain, trauma, or overwhelm you may be self-medicating. I’ll help you understand how the addiction developed, what keeps it in place, and what your nervous system needs to feel safe enough to let it go.

Together, we’ll explore both the emotional and relational impact of your behaviors, while building new ways of coping that align with your values and long-term healing.

I work with individuals navigating:

  • Alcohol and substance use

  • Internet or sex addiction

  • Disordered eating

  • Workaholism and perfectionism

  • Gambling or compulsive spending

  • Shoplifting or thrill-seeking behaviors

I Also Support Clients with OCD and Compulsions

Some compulsive behaviors — like repeated checking, hand washing, or hoarding — are rooted in obsessive thoughts or anxiety (OCD). I use trauma-informed therapy and EMDR to help you address the root fears and patterns driving the compulsions, so they no longer run your life.

Therapy That Meets You Where You Are

You don’t need to hit “rock bottom” to seek help. You just have to be ready to explore what’s underneath the pattern and take one small step toward change.

No shame. No labels. Just support.

Addiction and compulsive behaviors can feel all-consuming, but healing is possible.
Whatever you're struggling with, therapy can help you understand the root cause and create lasting change. No shame. Just support.

FAQs – Addiction & Compulsive Behaviors Therapy

Do I have to be “addicted” to get support?

Not at all. Many people seek help because a behavior feels out of control or harmful — even if they don’t consider it a full-blown addiction. Therapy can meet you wherever you are.

Can you help with non-substance addictions like shopping or internet use?

Yes. I support clients with both substance and behavioral addictions, including gambling, sex, food, screen time, and compulsive spending. All coping mechanisms are welcome here without shame.

What if I’ve tried to quit before and keep relapsing?

That’s common — and it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. We’ll work to understand what’s keeping the cycle going and build tools for lasting change, one step at a time.

I’m also dealing with past trauma or anxiety. Can we address that too?

Absolutely. Many addictive behaviors are rooted in trauma or chronic stress. My approach includes trauma-informed care, EMDR, and nervous system regulation to support holistic healing.

Is this therapy inclusive of LGBTQIA+ clients and diverse identities?

Yes. This is a safe, affirming space for all clients — regardless of identity, background, or experience. You are welcome here, exactly as you are.
